It's fun searching for the leaders of tomorrow. And---Greenburgh has got talent!
David Baumwoll of Tarrytown is an emerging leader in our community. He was named as one of only 60 Presidential Leadership Scholars from around the nation. Presidential Leadership Scholars have been meeting with former Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush, among others -learning leadership skills. Getting selected as a Presidential Scholar is difficult and very competitive. David is a senior associate at the law firm of Fischer Porter & Thomas. He previously taught elementary school as part of the Teach for America Corps in Newark NJ. He served as an assistant District Attorney in the Bronx and worked as an education program consultant for Mayor Cory Booker.
David is also the cofounder of the Student Movement Against Cancer and of a political technology company called Rep'd that is dedicated to improving the way leaders and residents communicate with each other. He graduated from Tufts University, Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Rutgers Law School. David was elected student body President at both Tufts and the Harvard Kennedy School.
I asked David if he would like to volunteer his time helping the town become a better place to live and work in and he was very receptive.
I asked David what the most important quality of a leader is and he said "empathy". I interviewed David on WVOX radio recently. This is the interview.
